The tree stands so patiently,

Not asking “What can I be? What can I be?

For the tree is as sure as a tree can be,

That its purpose in life is to be a tree,

Without a doubt, it knows its worth

Roots delving deep into the Earth

Branches standing strong and proud,

Pointing at the passing clouds,

All of nature loves the tree,

In its beautiful simplicity,

And without a word it teaches me,

To be happy with just being me

In this lovely little poem , we see that one of the beauties of being the tree is that is that its inherent worth is unquestionable, immutable. There is no need to question or doubt itself. It just is.

Moreover, trees play a vital role in our world’s ecosystem. They are valuable and their existence is important.

The same is true for each one of us. We are also worthy and valuable, just as we are.

So today consider a few things you like or value about yourself: traits, qualities, characteristics, habits, etc.

  • Do you try to be generous, thoughtful or considerate?

  • Are you disciplined or talented in a certain area?

  • Do people tell you that you are funny, creative or inspiring?

When you share your gratitude list today, see if you feel inspired to share a few of the wonderful things that make you , you.

It may feel awkward, but see if you want to stretch yourself a bit. Taking stock of our positive traits is a good thing!
