Every journey has a beginning….
Hello and welcome!
My name is Abbie and I am delighted you are here. So THANK YOU for being a part of Gratitude Buddies. Depending on where you’ve landed, this page may already look familiar to you! If it does, scroll down to read some basics about your Journey.
If not here’s a little about me:
Gratitude Buddies is both a labor of love and an outgrowth of my work offering trainings in mindfulness and meditation. Creating a platform on gratitude is an interesting evolution for me. In some ways being “positive” has always been a struggle for me, meaning I’ve had to work at it. I still work at it, almost every day, and that is the essence of what a gratitude practice is about, at least for me - a daily training for my brain. It’s taking the time to say: yes, this part may feel hard, but this part is working; this is good; this was even… a little unexpectedly joyful. The good stuff is there, but I have to pay attention to it. I have to slow down and notice. And when I look really closely, sometimes even “bad” can look a little differently.
And I have to say it works! These days, it’s not so uncommon to be walking down the street and spontaneously think something like: wow, I feel so lucky that my legs can get me from place to place. Or on a hard day, having something decent to eat can feel like a feast; or the friend who calls, like a treasured gift.
But Gratitude Buddies is not just about a gratitude practice. When putting this together, I wanted to create something a little more dynamic, a little more connected, a little more unexpected. Like, what happens when we throw another person into this practice: how does it unfold and what do we create together? Gratitude Buddies is meant to be done in pairs; you can also add a third person. The basic idea is the same: we’re practicing, learning, struggling, sharing together. Even if just for a short time.
Meditation is also part of my daily practice. So I included an optional 8 minute meditation for most days and once a week, a longer 20 minute meditation.
So head below for more information. You can also read about me, connect with me on Linkedin or follow the new Gratitude Buddies Instagram page.
I am happy you came here. Now let’s get started!
Warm wishes,
Abbie
A few points:
Set aside about 10 minutes a day; longer if you plan to meditate.
You will need an email address and to know your buddy’s email address. Please double check that you have the right one.
This program works best in pairs or groups of 3. If you want to do it with a larger group, contact us.
You may wish to keep a separate email folder, specifically dedicated to Gratitude Buddies, so you can go back and review your messages.
If helpful, print this calendar and track your progress.
Onward!
